Kia's all-new Sportage SUV aims to set a new benchmark for what a city-friendly crossover can achieve. Extensive standard features mean you always have everything you need conveniently to hand.
A fresh style singles out the latest Sportage. In a nod to the model's athletic name, a rear spoiler extends from the sweeping roof line. Alloy wheels and a chrome-edged front grille and beltline add flashes of brightness against one of eight body colours. The headlights are positioned higher up, increasing forward vision and protecting the bulbs from knocks. LED daytime running lights feature at the front, as do fog lights on most trim levels.
Three passenger grips mounted on the inside assist you in entering and exiting the vehicle. Most models feature a leather-trimmed steering wheel, which is fully adjustable and matches the gearstick for tactile quality. Drivers also benefit from an electric parking brake in the First Edition car. Central armrests in the front and rear help everyone to settle into a comfortable position.
Should you need even more space, the Sportage will deliver. Flexible seating makes it quick and simple to drop the 60/40 split rear bench. This results in as much as 1,480 litres of load volume. Storage compartments in the cabin include a centre console box, door and seat back pockets, an illuminated glovebox, and cup holders integrated with the rear armrest.
Kia has given the Sportage the widest range of trim levels. Grades named 1-4 are joined by corresponding KX-1, KX-2, KX-3 and KX-4 options. There is also a First Edition and a racing-inspired GT Line. Power is derived from your choice of the 1.6-litre petrol engines and 1.7-litre or 2.0-litre diesel alternatives available across the line-up.
The 61.4mpg combined that the vehicle can potentially generate comes from the 1.7-litre diesel engine at 114bhp. Intelligent Stop & Go from Kia conserves energy, boosting the Sportage's efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. The engine pairs with a six-speed manual gearbox, with the manufacturer's new seven-speed automatic an option for the petrol-powered crossover.
With so many advanced features throughout the vehicle, it is only natural that the Sportage claims a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. A roll-over sensor will automatically activate the twin curtain airbags if needed, with twin front and side airbags increasing the protection. For increased confidence, the Electronic Stability Control is joined by Hill-Start Assist Control and Downhill Brake Control.
All models except 1 and KX-1 give you the further reassurance of Kia Connected Services. On a seven-inch or eight-inch touchscreen, depending on the trim, view navigation, weather forecasts, traffic updates and local points of interest. Music can also be streamed throughout the cabin using the Bluetooth® connection, via either six or eight speakers.
