Birchwood at Eastbourne’s Magnificent Motors

The team at Birchwood Group was delighted to attend Eastbourne’s Magnificent Motors on 4th & 5th May 2019. This event, held at the Western Lawns, celebrated vintage and classic vehicles, but also offered visitors the chance to encounter the latest innovations in the auto industry.

Birchwood attended with three exciting cars – the new Ford Mondeo Hybrid, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and new all-new Kia e-Niro. Next to such classics as the Ford Model T and Brush Runabout, these models demonstrated how automotive engineering has evolved over the past century. The Mondeo Hybrid’s petrol/electric 184hp powertrain, for example, is a far cry from the early engine of the Model T, which produced 20hp and reached a top speed of 45mph.

The models were part of the newly introduced ‘Cars of the Future’ area of the show, and visitors were able to explore the vehicles up close and ask our team about making the switch to greener motoring.

Other highlights of the festival included the Parade of Motors, which began at Fort Fun car park at 10am on both days and proceeded along the seafront to the Western Lawns. This was a great opportunity for visitors to see the various vehicles in action en route to the showground.

In addition to the exhibits and Parade of Motors, a variety of musical acts performed throughout the weekend. Whether you like jazz or rock, funk or indie-pop, there was something to entertain you.

A range of locally brewed beers and regional food were available too. Producers included Harveys Hop Bar and the Seafront Market, who sold delicious treats to visitors.
