Here at Birchwood we are proudly celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, which runs 7-13 February, by shining the light on some of our apprentices. Apprenticeships at Birchwood deliver younger people with experience, expertise and hands-on tuition within the automotive industry while also enabling them to earn as they learn.
Higher education can entail high costs for students, whereas apprenticeships bridge the gap for those students who instead prefer to gain training and employment skills, as well as accredited qualifications, all at the same time. Apprenticeships appeal to many people from all walks of life, whether they’re looking for a career change or want to expand on knowledge learned in another job.
Alex joined Birchwood Ford as an apprentice in 2019, straight from school. He attends college on a weekly basis, and works alongside experienced Technicians who help him develop job specific skills.
"Being an apprentice has enabled me to learn about something I am passionate about. Since joining I have completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship and have continually received great feedback from my college. I have now progressed onto Level 3, which has given me a greater understanding into why issues can occur and involves learning more about vehicle diagnostics. I have built up my confidence and I am fortunate to be part of such an experienced team. I believe I have an exciting future at Birchwood."
We are pleased to have recently welcomed our latest cohort of Apprentice Technicians to our Ford, Kia, ŠKODA dealerships. Dan, Tommy, Mikey, Franky and Alfie will be working alongside qualified Technicians to build their skills and knowledge.
