Maintenance Operative - Eastbourne

Overview

Birchwood Group is a forward-looking company with retail stores, workshops and facilities based across the south coast of Sussex and Hampshire.

We are seeking a reliable and multi‑skilled Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep and smooth running of our various sites across the Group.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• General plumbing
• General electrics
• General carpentry
• Clearing manholes and maintaining land drains
• Roof and gutter clearing/maintenance
• Furniture assembly and repairs
• Gardening maintenance, including grass cutting, weeding and hedge trimming
• Painting and decorating
• Travel between our sites as required
• Ad‑hoc general maintenance tasks

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

• Proven experience as a multi-skilled labourer, as described above
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
• Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative without constant supervision

• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to create relationships at all levels
• A flexible approach to working

Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm.

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Location: Eastbourne
