The all new Ford Mondeo is set to become more sporty and more efficient through enhanced styling and improved engineering. Inside, comfort levels and material quality are raised and there's a whole spectrum of smart technology to make driving more inspiring and safer, too. Ford's Kinetic Design really captures the idea of energy in motion, while an ultra-efficient new engine and new rear suspension design ensure that styling is backed up by substance.
The new exterior is dominated by a bold chrome grille and features sleek aerodynamic surfaces. The roofline is low and rakish, while A-pillars are narrower than before to improve forward visibility. The rear screen is aggressively angled, giving a distinctive fastback look to this practical five-door. Inside the seating position is lower, as is the boot floor, to accommodate more luggage. A clever interior touch is the sculpted rooflining in the rear cabin to optimise passenger headroom. From behind the wheel you will find a higher quality, driver-focused instrument panel with metallic accents, based around twin dials and a large clear infotainment readout.
Totally new to the Mondeo and the sector in 2013 will be the incredible 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. A smooth-revving 123bhp three-cylinder unit, it will be extremely economical and achieve CO2 emissions of just 125 g/km. There will also be a choice of larger EcoBoost petrol engines and efficient refined Duratorq diesels, such as the 1.6-litre 115 PS* TDCi with Auto-Start-Stop that achieves 114 g/km of CO2. In addition to the fast shifting six-speed manual gearbox, there will be a state-of-the-art six-speed automatic dual-clutch PowerShift transmission available on certain models.
In-car technology throughout the new Mondeo is cutting-edge. The Intelligent Protection System (IPS) includes driver's and front passenger's airbags, front side impact airbags, front and second row side-curtain airbags and driver's knee airbag, plus numerous passive protection features. It's why the Mondeo has earned a five-star EuroNCAP rating. Technology you can expect across the range includes a comprehensive trip computer, the Auto-Start-Stop system, Bluetooth Hands Free and Voice Control.
