WhatCar?: Car of the Year 2015 - The WhatCar? Car of the Year award is one of the most prestigious accolades in the motoring world. In 2015, ŠKODA’s Fabia impressed so much that it was the worthy winner out of 25 other vehicles in its competition for the small car award, including the Ford Fiesta and VW Polo.
The car’s 1.2-litre turbo charged petrol engine was highly praised for delivering a strong performance a coupled with efficiency and particularly low CO2 emissions. Its technology was also highly commended with the family car boasting a 6.5-inch touchscreen as standard which comprises satellite navigation and Mirrorlink which syncs to a smartphone.
ŠKODA’s Fabia won the Car of the Year award for the small car market back in 2000, too.
Auto Express: Family Car of the Year 2015 - ŠKODA’s smart saloon was also highly praised in 2015, picking up the Family Car of the Year Award, beating stiff competition from the Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat. With plenty of legroom and a 625-litre boot, it has a decent amount of space making it perfectly practical for families. The boot opens like a hatchback providing extra ease for getting large items inside.
Thanks to its sharp angular detailing, sleek body shape and subtle contours make it a smart car to drive, perfect for commuters with families. These good looks are usually associated with cars that cost much more. The interior is equally as sophisticated and the chassis is commended for offering a smooth drive. ŠKODA managed to shave 75kg of weight off the car which results in a responsive performance.
