The Octavia offers a variety of engines across its range, with a choice of four petrols and four diesels. Among these is the efficient Greenline III 1.6-litre diesel, which emits a mere 85kg/km of CO2 and returns an economical 88mpg. For greater power and performance, the flagship vRS comes with a diesel-powered 184bhp engine which delivers 0-60mph in eight seconds. All engines are available with Škoda’s fuel-efficient DGS gearbox.
The car’s reputation for reliability and safety is justified. It has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating, and includes standard safety features such as an Anti-Lock Braking System, driver and passenger airbags and Fatigue Detection.
