The Roomster is Škoda’s version of the mini-MPV. Its distinctive exterior features a chrome bar on its radiator grille, electric front windows and practical height-adjustable headlamps as standard. The higher-spec SE trim offers an aspherical driver’s exterior mirror to maximise field of view, as well as heat insulated glass and a panoramic sunroof.
The Roomster’s interior is geared towards both driver and passenger comfort, with a two-way adjustable steering wheel and height-adjustable front headrests. A well-designed cabin features a neat dashboard, an illuminated glovebox, and auxillary sockets for MP3 use. The SE version comes with remote door locking, parking sensors and an electric rear window. The Roomster has an impressive boot capacity of 450 litres, which extends to 1,780 once the rear seats are reclined.
Both S and SE trims are fitted with 1.2-litre petrol engines. The S returns up to 42mpg on its 70bhp engine, while the SE’s 105bhp version is keener and more capable, and is paired with Škoda’s fuel-efficient DSG gearbox. The Roomster’s long wheelbase and cleverly weighted steering ensures decent handling and grip on the road.
As well as a five-star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP, the Roomster comes with Anti-Lock Braking System, six airbags and height-adjustable seatbelts. Electronic Stability Control is optional on the S and comes as standard on the SE.
