The exterior is both elegant and athletically sturdy. The bonnet’s sharply defined lines frame attractive headlights and angled front fog lights. Door mirrors are integrated seamlessly with indicators, and decorative ‘gems’ partially conceal the reverse lights and fog lights. For a more expansive feel, a Panoramic sunroof is available as optional on all five trim levels.
Inside, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome detailing offers a good range of adjustment to maximise driver comfort. Ambient lighting (optional on the SE L Executive and as standard on SportLine and Laurin and Klement) brings an intimacy and harmony to the cabin, making every drive more relaxing. An electronically adjustable front driver’s seat with built in memory (optional on SE and standard on all other trims) records up to three seating positions. The Superb’s infotainment system is Škoda’s most sophisticated yet. Its centre-piece is the Columbus navigation system, which comes with an eight-inch colour screen and includes smartphone pairing, integrated Wifi and a DVD drive. It is offered as standard from SE L Executive upwards.
The Superb comes with five petrol engine options. Among these are three 1.4 TSI variants which come with either 124bhp or 149bhp, and reach 0-62 mph in respective times of ten and eight seconds. A turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI generates a forceful maximum torque of 350 Nm and reaches a maximum speed of 155mph. The 1.6-litre diesel engine is available with fuel-saving Greenline technology.
Awarded a five-star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP, the Superb runs as standard seven airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Differential Lock and Hydraulic Brake Assist. Lane assist and blind spot detection are among the optional safety features.
