Over the next 5 years, ŠKODA is investing £1.8 billion in alternative driving systems and new mobility platforms. By the end of 2022, they plan to deliver a number of new iV electrified models to fit our 'Green Future' initiative. We have already trained 11,000 of our colleagues(and counting) in electric vehicle production.
'Green Future' is our initiative to build a more sustainable future for ŠKODA and you, our customers. We have set ambitious targets to reduce our environmental impact in the decade up to 2025, including reducing the CO2 production of our fleet by 30%. Electric is the future.
Built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, the striking, athletic ŠKODA VISION iV represents a step change in electric mobility. It's a fully electric, five door crossover coupé concept vehicle with all-wheel drive, a luxurious, spacious interior and an expected range of over 300 miles.
Don't go to the petrol station. Go where the smart money is. Charging a battery from the empty to full costs far less than a tankful of fuel.
All-electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions, so the CO2 output of your daily commute is precisely zero.
The driving range of electric vehicles is extending all the time, with the ŠKODA VISION iV expected to achieve over 300 miles between charges. And there are now more than 9,000 charging locations across the UK, with hundreds more added every week.
Electric vehicles have far fewer movingparts than petrol or diesel cars, making them easier to service. The entire drivetrain has just three components- the convertor, motor and battery.
When you put your foot on the accelerator of a petrol or diesel car, there is a "lag" before the car actually accelerates. With an electric vehicle, acceleration is instantaneous, for a more responsive and fun driving experience.
Unlike BEVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles combine an electric motor with a traditional combustion engine. PHEVs are still charged the same way as BEVs and can be driven purely with electricity (for 34 miles** in the case of the SUPERB iV model) Driving a PHEV will drastically reduce your fuel consumption and provide a smoother, quieter drive, particularly in the city.
BEVs are, as you might expect, purely electric and primarily charged at home or at public charging points. Our zero-emission BEVs are great fun to drive and easily serviced.
