A sleek and stylish saloon car, the Superb was awarded Auto Express’ Family Car of the Year in 2015. The following year it was the recipient of the Best Estate Car gong as presented by What Car?. Among its many attributes, the Superb comes with a wide range of standard features, and possesses an enormous boot too.
Contrasting subtly with the Superb’s body are a radiator grille and 15-inch Auriga alloy wheels, all in black. The car features electrically-adjustable and heated door mirrors that include indicator lights. Illumination is also offered by headlights that incorporate daytime running lights, and front fog lamps that are positioned below. LED lights are located at the rear of the car too. Loading items into the boot is simpler with the aid of an optional boot floor. This can be raised to the same level as the sill so that objects can be slid into place with relative ease. It also provides a hidden compartment for storing valuables.
The Superb’s labour-saving devices include power-assisted steering, an electronic parking brake, power-operated windows and remote central locking. Different temperature levels can be maintained within the cabin to suit you and your passengers. A humidity sensor is included too to ensure that the windscreen remains clear. Integrated rear sunblinds offer protection, even when the window is open. Stowage space is provided by a front-armrest storage box, an illuminated and cooling glovebox, a removable parcel shelf and an overhead glasses compartment. A class-leading 660-litre boot can be expanded to offer 1,590 litres of cargo capacity once the rear seats are folded. Furthermore, hooks are provided for securing shopping bags, as well as a removable torch that charges every time the engine runs.
An array of engines is available including, for the S grade, a 1.4-litre 123bhp petrol option that is paired with a manual gearbox. This delivers up to 52.3mpg and produces a CO2 emission figure of 126g/km. Another engine available for the S trim is a 1.6-litre 118bhp diesel option. This comes with automatic transmission and is capable of as much as 70.6mpg and a CO2 emission figure as low as 105g/km. Stop-Start technology reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption whenever the car comes to a stop.
A five-inch touchscreen provides access to a DAB radio which offers a wide variety of stations in crystal clear sound quality. Also included are AUX, USB and SD ports. Bluetooth® connectivity enables you to stream music from a compatible mobile device, and enjoy hands-free communication.
Driver aids comprise an Electronic Stability Programme, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Multi-Collision Brake System and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Awarded a Euro NCAP five-star rating, the Superb also features seven airbags and ISOFIX child-seat fittings. For added security, an alarm and immobiliser are standard inclusions.
