In the 2016 WhatCar? Awards, the ŠKODA OCTAVIA has once again been named as 'Best Family Car'.
The model leads the way in the '£16,000-19,000' category. According to the WhatCar? panel, the OCTAVIA'stands out' in its segment. Comments on the vehicle included:
“Interior space is exceptional, and the OCTAVIA is fitted with the latest safety equipment and powered by a small but mighty engine.”
“Five adults will have no trouble getting comfortable for a long journey, and the boot is so big that none of them will have to pack light. It also gets neat touches such as a removable torch in the boot and Velcro dividers to stop stuff rolling around when you’re on the move. It really does feel like they’ve thought of everything that makes a great estate car.”
A win for the 2016 awards marks the third consecutive year in which the OCTAVIA has won in its category. The family car segment is always one of the most closely fought. Winning in this area is proof that the OCTAVIA estate can cover all the bases for motorists.
This is far from the only accolade that the estate car has received. Many other industry experts have confirmed the OCTAVIA's appeal as a family-friendly vehicle, such as Auto Express and Parkers. Awards for 'green' motoring, fleet car suitability, driver satisfaction and towcar strength show off the vehicle's flexibility.

WhatCar? notes that that volume is more than a Ford Mondeo can offer:
“Interior space is exceptional, and includes a boot that’s easily big enough to cope with most people’s requirements. Factor in the excellent value the OCTAVIA represents and that’s two very important boxes ticked for buyers.”

SKODA's latest slogan for the OCTAVIA is 'Loved, not owned', and the appeal of the estate is easy to see. Judges praised the 'direct steering' and 'composed handling', advantages which simplify journeys for owners.

All of the OCTAVIA's equipment levels include Electronic Stability Control with a range of braking and traction assistances, as well as surrounding airbags. The automatic post-collision braking system is another clever inclusion, activating to support you during a road incident. As a result, the estate holds a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The version with a 1.2-litre petrol engine was the model appraised by WhatCar?'s panel. It can push the OCTAVIA's economy to as much as 57.7mpg combined. CO2 emissions are reduced to only 114g/km.
WhatCar? also highlighted how competitive the model can be on pricing. It challenges close rivals when it comes to value, particularly the Vauxhall Astra Tourer and Ford Focus estate.
