In June of 2015, Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine was named Best Engine Under 1.0-litre for the fourth consecutive year at the International Engine of the Year show held in Stuttgart.
The award was bestowed by a panel of 87 car journalists from 35 countries. “Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost remains one of the finest examples of engine downsizing,” said Dean Slavnich, co-chairman of the 17th International Engine of the Year awards. Slavnich, who is also editor of Engine Technology International magazine added, “This fantastic three-cylinder shows there is still a way to go for the internal combustion engine.”
The following month, the Ford Transit was named Van of the Year by Auto Express. This was the third year in a row that a Transit vehicle had received this particular accolade.
Auto Express’ editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said, “The van was tested to destruction in the development process.” This was so that “no amount of tough treatment at the hands of drivers would get the better of it.”
“Even 50 years on from the launch of the original model, Ford’s Transit is pushing the boundaries of the panel van market and challenging rivals to keep pace.”
