The Birchwood Charity Football Match

Final score: Team A 7-5 Team B

It may not quite have been a Clash of the Titans and you may be forgiven for not seeing the game on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday lineup, but the recent Birchwood Cup charity football match was a roaring success for all parties involved. Well, except those on the losing side of course!

Arranged to raise valuable funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne, two teams from the Birchwood Group took to the pitch at Eastbourne Borough Football Club and went head-to-head to determine just who could return to work on Monday with full bragging rights. In the end, it was Team A that claimed victory in a hard-fought game, defeating its opponents - the equally well-named Team B - by seven goals to five.

Man of the match in terms of goal scoring was undoubtedly the hat-trick hero, Dougie Bick, whose pinpoint finishing may well have Premier League scouts heading down to Birchwood in the coming weeks to sign him up to a professional contract. Or failing that, to at least take a closer look at our exceptional range of new and used cars.

Of course, the real winner on the day was St Wilfrid’s Hospice. The valuable work carried out by the hospice enables those affected by life-shortening illnesses - and their families - to receive support that is so desperately needed. And, while talk of the result will soon subside, knowing that we were able to raise more than £1,000 for such an honourable cause is almost certain to live long in the memory of everybody at Birchwood Group. We are proud to be able to support such a worthwhile organisation, and thank each and every person that came along to watch the match and donated to the cause.
