Being Ford's first Hybrid vehicle, we have had many customers want to know what the Mondeo Hybrid is really like. How it drives. How economical it is. The benefits of a more economical car. And of course, it is fun to drive?
With the new Ford Mondeo Hybrid now available, we usually respond with "it's fantastic, why not try it for yourself?"
However, with growing interest for the Ford's new hybrid model, we thought we'd approach this topic a little differently, and give you the benefits of the new model from someone who knows what they are talking about- someone who owns and drives the car for them self.
Meet Scott. Based at our Birchwood Ford branch in Eastbourne, Scott picked the new Mondeo Hybrid as his company car and has been driving it around since the start of April.
Besides the obvious benefits of having a large car with plenty of space for passengers and storage, the Mondeo Hybrid saves me money instead of choosing a petrol or diesel only alternative. Being a Hybrid means lower CO2 emissions and therefore a lower B.I.K- the Mondeo Hybrid more than halved my company car tax!
Working and living in the South East, we don't have many motorways nearby, and the majority of roads are A-roads. Adding how busy the roads are here, a lot of my driving is start/stop. Frustrating when in a hurry, but at least I don't have to worry about the engine running constantly. For me, over half the mileage I have traveled has been on the electric engine, which is self-charging. This is done by harnessing and recycling 90% of the energy generated from braking back into the battery. Clever stuff!
Whenever I'm driving, whether it is into work or for leisure, the Mondeo Hybrid makes driving a breeze. With features such as the Lane Keeping System and cruise control ensures a safe, comfortable ride. Plus with traffic sign recognition, I don't have to worry about any accidental speeding, which is especially helpful with roads I am not familiar with.
Just because I'm out the office from time to time and on the road, doesn't mean I can't make any important calls. With Ford SYNC3 which comes with blue-tooth, voice control and an 8" colour touch screen display, I am able to stay connected. Or, when winding down, I can listen to my favourite tracks without taking my eyes off the road.
For years, I have loved the look of the Mondeo, and the latest model is no exception. The sleek body features chrome detailing on the grille, side window surrounds and door scuffs, as well as 18" alloy wheels. At the front, the new Mondeo Hybrid comes with stunning automatic headlights that have an auto high/low beam function as standard which is ideal for night time driving.
The Mondeo Hybrid is also available with the luxurious Vignale model, which has spoke detailing inside and out, such as a distinctive grille and hand-stitched interior.
As standard, the Mondeo HEV comes packed with features and technology. The inside provides a premium ambiance and includes heated leather seats and leather-trimmed steering wheel as well as soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. With ambient lighting with a choice of colours and Air Conditioning with Dual-Zone temperature control, perfect for our hot days (which are far too rare!) and our cold winters, the Mondeo is just a joy to sit in.
So there we have it, Scott's first hand thoughts of the car! Do you have any questions about the Mondeo Hybrid you would like to ask us, or any other vehicle for that matter, we are keen to help. Why not contact us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and we'll answer any questions you have.
