Bold and ground-breaking, the Kia EV9 Concept was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2021 and presents a new take on electric mobility. Its striking design is outgoing and adventurous, incorporating an upright stance and defined angles that take inspiration from solid rock geometry. Its proportions outline the three-row layout inside, and its profile lends the model a go-anywhere attitude that signifies its capabilities. Most excitingly of all, a solar panel has been built into the bonnet, providing a new way to keep the battery topped up. And for those times you need extra luggage capacity, there are retractable roof rails that pop up to accommodate it.
The EV9’s doors have a pillarless design, opening to create a wide aperture. This enables easy access to the cabin for passengers of all ages and even those less mobile. Occupants sit under a panoramic roof, bathed in natural light and even able to see the stars during night-time travel. In combination with the large windows, this creates a strong connection with the environment, enhancing the sense of serenity and wellbeing within.
The EV9’s technological highlights and all-round flexibility mean it’s at home both tackling city traffic and on quieter roads, where families can head off to enjoy their favourite activities away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Minimalist styling creates a feeling of unrivalled space and comfort, with the instrument cluster displayed on a 27-inch digital screen and foot pedals set into the curved panel below the dash.
When the production version of the EV9 appears in 2023, it’s expected to offer single and dual-motor options, as well as super-fast charging speeds like its EV6 sibling. Range could be as much as 300 miles too, making it an exceptionally capable vehicle.
