Birchwood team flip their way to success in Pancake Race

On Tuesday 5 March, the annual St Wilfrid’s Hospice Pancake Race took place on Eastbourne’s high street. The organisation is Birchwood Group’s local charity of choice, so we were delighted to enter two teams into the race – named ‘Flipping Fast’ and ‘Batter Believe’.

Our teams were among twenty that were entered by local businesses. After a set of heats, the main relay-style race kicked off at 1pm, with competitors running a fixed distance and stopping to flip their pancakes at the designated ‘flipping point’. Sporting T-shirts made by the Birchwood digital team, our contestants put up a good fight, with Batter Believe taking third place overall.

The event raised over £4,200, with our teams raising a fantastic £600. All proceeds go towards the hospice’s vital work providing specialist services to those with advanced life-limiting illness. The charity’s aim is to transform end of life care for people in and around Eastbourne, with the help of local professionals and the community as a whole. If you’d like to make a donation, you can do so on their website.
