2023 ULEZ Zone Expansion Update
A new proposed Ultra-Low Emission Zone extension is set to go into effect in August 2023. Sadiq Khan announced plans to cover 33 London boroughs, so the change is expected. Drivers of non-ULEZ compliant vehicles will be fined £12.50 if they enter the ULEZ expansion zone. Vehicles affected by the change include cars, motorcycles, specialty vehicles, and minibuses, and failure to pay the charge will result in a £160 fine.

The emission zone was last expanded in October 2021, affecting an estimated 100,000 to 300,000 drivers per day. Sadiq Khan announced plans to expand the zone in order to become "London's greenest ever Major."
Sadiq stated that he is unwilling to standby. More progress must be made now because there is still far too much toxic air pollution harming the lungs of young Londoners.
According to research, three out of every five Londoners are concerned about how the ULEZ will affect their finances. Fifty-seven percent said they are less likely to drive in London, and two-thirds said they couldn't afford to max the switch.
