The versatile seven-seater from Kia makes an ideal choice for active families, and proves that you don’t have to compromise on style for practicality. An affordable price tag and low running costs mean the Kia Carens is a popular option in the large MPV class.
The Carens brings elegance and style to the large MPV market, with smooth contours, smart lighting including LED daytime running lights and a chrome-trimmed signature Kia grille.
Alloy wheels are featured across the range, starting with 16-inches on the lower level trims, and rising to 17-inch alloys on the higher spec models. Exterior paint options include Bright Silver, Celestial Silver and Quartz Black.
The cabin is crafted with high end materials, including a leather-trimmed steering wheel, with ergonomic design features for optimal comfort. There is plenty of space inside for all the family and your belongings, and the generous 492-litre boot capacity can easily be expanded to 1,650 litres. Third row seats fold completely flat and middle row seats also fold down.
Trim options in the Carens are simply named 1, 2, 3 and 4. The entry level 1 has air conditioning, while an upgrade to the 2 and above will get you a dual-zone air conditioning with ioniser. The Carens 4 trim has the added luxury of a panoramic sunroof which is fitted with an automatic electric roll blind, so you can reduce the brightness if you need to.
All models have USB and AUX ports, and Bluetooth connectivity means you can stream music or make phone calls hands-free. A DAB radio is fitted on all models except the Carens 1 and cruise control with speed limiter helps to take the stress out of longer journeys. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel provided on trims 3 and 4 make the Carens more welcoming on wintery mornings.
The Kia Carens is available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.7-litre diesel engine. The petrol edition has a six-speed manual gearbox, whereas you have the option of seven-speed automatic transmission with the diesel engine. Fuel efficiency is highest for the 1.7-litre diesel with 114bhp, which returns up to 67.2mpg on a combined cycle, and has CO2 emissions as low as 109g/km.
Kia is generous with the amount of safety equipment fitted as standard in its vehicles, such as emergency stop signalling, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and hill-start assist. You will also find rear child safety locks, ISOFIX fittings and a seat-belt reminder alert.
