The stylish Kia Venga makes an excellent choice for a family car, with more space than many hatchbacks, a good standard of equipment, low running costs and affordable pricing.
Kia’s signature mesh grille and the distinctive LED fog lamps grab your attention at the front of the Venga, while at the sides the incline of the windows from front to rear is neatly echoed in the body contours. The range of smart colour options for the Kia Venga includes Arctic White, Silver Frost, Infra Red and Phantom Black.
The Kia Venga trim levels are 1, 1 Air, 2, 3 and 4. Body-coloured bumpers and door mirrors are standard across the range, as are tinted glass and a rear spoiler. Air conditioning is fitted on the 1 Air trim and up, while trim 2 adds alloy wheels. Trim level 4 gets you additional features such as a panoramic sunroof with one-touch function for easy operation.
Technology and comfort
The Venga’s 1.6m height makes it taller than a conventional hatchback, and means there is plenty of headroom at all seats. A height-adjustable driver’s seat ensures you get a good view of the road. There is plenty of storage space, with 444 litres in the boot, and this can easily be expanded thanks to the rear seats which fold flat to the boot floor. You will also find numerous additional storage spaces positioned around the cabin.
All trim levels have a six-speaker audio system and USB and AUX ports. Bluetooth music streaming is provided on trim 2 and up, while an upgrade to trim 3 also gets a satnav system with seven-inch touchscreen.
Performance, engines, economy and efficiencyEngine choices for the Venga include a 1.4-litre or 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, or a 1.4-litre or 1.6-litre CRDi diesel edition. The 1.6-litre petrol version is available with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency is highest with the diesel engines, which return up to 64.2mpg on a combined cycle, and these also have the lowest CO2 emissions at 115g/km.
Safety and security
Hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring and emergency brake signalling are among the standard safety features provided in the Kia Venga. ISOFIX child car seat attachments, rear safety locks and a seatbelt warning reminder help to keep your younger passengers safe and secure.
The Kia Venga was the winner of the JD Power Best Small MPV award in 2014, and Kia has won many manufacturer awards too, including being named Car Manufacturer of the Year at the 2016 Car Dealer Power Awards.
