Kia Niro PHEV & Optima Sportswagon PHEV Win in 2017

Kia Won at Next Green Car & Green Fleet Awards


Kia Motors walked away with two prestigious titles at the 2017 Next Green Car awards. The All-New Kia Niro PHEV was crowned winner of the Crossover/SUV category and The All-New Kia Optima Sportswagon PHEV was given the award in the Estate category.

The Next Green Car Awards recognise the very best green cars that are currently and soon-to-be available. the Judges base the winners on a rage of factors but is mainly focused on Next Green Car (NGC) ratings based on real-world emissions data.

Both the Niro and Optima Sportswagon PHEV's were launched this year and they have kicked off to a brilliant start, they are helping take closer steps to Kia's aim of reducing the average CO2 emissions of its entire range by 25% by 2020. The Niro PHEV is able to travel for up to 36 miles on just electric power and the Optima Sportswagon PHEV is able to achieve up to 38 miles in all-electric mode.

Kia Motors then went on to be awarded with PHEV Manufacturer of the Year for 2017 at this years Green Fleet Awards. The awards have been running for thirteen years and they celebrate the year's achievements in improving the impact of fleet on the environment.

Kia was recognised for both the Niro PHEV and Optima Sportswagon PHEV by Green Fleet, both vehicles are newly introduced after only being released in September of 2017.

The UK Sales Director at Kia Motors UK Ltd, Steve Hicks Commented: "Both the Niro PHEV and the Optima Sportswagon PHEV are great additions to the Kia fleet and the UK alternative fuel market and we are delighted to have received this accolade from the Green Fleet Awards.
