UK Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate

The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate is a UK government policy that requires car manufacturers to sell an increasing percentage of zero-emission vehicles (mainly electric cars and vans) each year.

The aim is to gradually increase EV availability and support the UK’s transition to cleaner transport.

Under the mandate, manufacturers must ensure that a set proportion of their new vehicle sales are zero-emission, with targets rising each year until all new cars and vans are zero-emission.

The ZEV mandate requires car manufacturers to increase the proportion of electric vehicles they sell each year, reaching 80% of new car sales by 2030 and 100% by 2035.
